Cathedral

'Cathedral' collage by Paul Vallance
These hands were sculpted by Rodin in 1908. He named the sculpture Cathedral. The illustration comes from the cover of a 1950's Phaidon Rodin monograph. I've added trees from a photograph of a Saharan oasis, an image of the sun's corona, and a butterfly, I think its a Comma.
I like the prayerful feel of this collage. After I'd assembled it I realised that Rodin had joined two right hands, so in a way the image could also be taken to represent the union of two people as well as the interconnectedness of form and emptiness, the non-dual.
